The museum docents, many seasoned lacemakers, offer two kinds of guided tours:
One-hour tour:
This tour introduces the museum, its foundation, historical references to lacemaking,
an explanation of types of lace, techniques in bobbin and needle lace making, and
the discovery of special centuries-old lace.
Two-hours tour:
In addition to the elements of the 1-hour tour, the docent will go into detail on the
works on pillows (Binche Sample and Fan), as well as a detailed description of any special
exhibition at the museum.
A two-hour tour includes a complimentary drink for the patrons (water or juice)
Cost:
The cost of a tour, paid as a donation, is based on the number of people in your group,
and whether you would like to have a one or two-hour tour. The cost of a docent is $40 per hour while after-hours private tours cost an extra $20.00. Click here
to send us a request form. We always respond within two business days.
All tours need to be reserved at least one week in advance, and payment (via Paypal) is
due 48 hours before the tour's start time. Cancellations within 48 hours of
the start time of a tour will result in a $20.00 non-refundable fee.
Thank you for considering booking a tour at the Raleigh Lace Museum.
